He was predeceased by: his father Edward R. Birks, Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Eleanor E. Birks (Guenther) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and his siblings, William C. Birks (Lauralyn Johnson) of Carmichaels, Kenneth R. Birks (Mary Beth) of Ingram, Donna M. Birks of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Barbara Painter (Dennis) of Florida and Lisa Birks of Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
