He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennie F. Jury-Leitzel and Charles H. Leitzel Sr.; and his siblings, Florence Bowser, Irene Gessner, Charles, Jr., Allen and Marvin Leitzel.
He is survived by: his close friend Anita M. McDonnell; and his sons, Roger E. Leitzel and Michael E. Leitzel. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
