He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis S. Hassel and Myltreda Hassel (Ague); his brother Alan Hassel; and his niece Holly Hassel Cremonese. He is survived by: his sons, Alan Hassell (Deborah Judway) of Springfield, MA and David Hassell of Portland, ME; his grandchildren, Venessa Morris (Joshua), Jessica Jessen (Trenton) and Dylan Hassell (Becca) of Middletown, CT; his sister-in-law Barbara Hassel; his niece Heidi Stone (Doug) of Hermitage; and his nephew Jerry A. Hassel of California. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
