He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gathers and Pauline Gathers (Gourley); his wife Elizabeth Carson; and his siblings, Leroy, Paul Gathers and Betty Thomas.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas W. Gathers (Melanie), William D. Gathers (Janice), Ruth Reedy (Richard) and Jane Price (James). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Per Dean's request, contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the memorial fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon or to the Buhl Park Foundation.
