He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton D. Patterson and Marion Swigart; his wife Betty Jean Frye; and his siblings, William E. Swigart and Margie Heller.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth M. Williams (Nathan) and Russell E. Swigart Jr. (Pamela); his grandchildren, Kcie Johns, Nathaniel Jean Thomas Williams, Elliana Williams and Felicia Westgate; and his great grandchildren, Soul Johns, Mason Bodnar and Lyla Westgate. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
