He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Maurer and Lois Maurer (Heckrote); his son Daryl J. Maurer, Jr.; and his brother Allen Maurer. He is survived by: his wife Darlene Miller-Maurer; his children, Jarid Maurer of Hazleton, Misty Maurer of Kansas and Tanya Maurer of Beaver Meadows; and his siblings, Frederick Maurer of Mountain Grove, Marilyn Filozof of Catasaqua, Donna Maurer of Laurel, MD, Joan Maurer of Havertown, PA and Lori Palermo of Hazleton, PA.. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Hazleton Animal Shelter, 101 North Poplar Street, Hazleton, PA 18201; the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231 or any veterans association in Daryl's name.
