It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Peter Slocum Porter (Hawley, Pennsylvania), who passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. Richard A. Porter and Frances Slocum Porter; his wife Jill Swingle Porter; his children, Brian (Philippa Porter), Briton (Brittany Wack) and Amanda (Alex Schmalzle); his grandchildren, Charlie Porter, Keaton Porter, Eva Schmalzle and Eliza Schmalzle; his sisters, Susie Porter George and Jo Porter; and his brother-in-law Bruce Bergethon.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hawley United Methodist Church (315 Church St, Hawley, PA 18428). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Hawley Public Library in Peter's honor.
