He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Schaffer and Lillian Schaffer (Werner); his sons, George R. Schaffer and James Schaffer; and his siblings, Eugene, James, Alberta, Marie and Margaret.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Padgett; and his Border Collie Terra. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
