He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Margaret J. "Peggie" Castagna; his sons, Philip R. Castagna, Jr., Peter J. Castagna (Meghan) and Nicholas G. Castagna (Dana); his grandchildren, Moirin and Eamon Castagna; his siblings, Rosemary Fanelli (late Paul) and Armand "Skip" Castagna; and his parents, Armand Castagna and Mary Castagna.

In lieu of flowers a contribution in Mr. Castagna's name may made to St. Denis Parish.
