Celie", age 85, a recent resident of Rosemont, PA, died peacefully on March 25, 2018. Born in Philadelphia on February 12, 1933 to the late Michael & Anna Murphy (née Durkin). Celie was a devout Catholic and very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Class of 1950. Celie was formerly a resident of Havertown and later Glen Mills where she was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. A thoughtful and considerate person, Celie was always generous with her time and willing to help others. She volunteered at Riddle Memorial Hospital Thrift Shop. She enjoyed traveling and was known for her good sense of humor. Cecelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Kennedy, her sister Joyce Murphy, and brothers-in-law James Kennedy and William P. Donahoe. Survivors include her siblings Margaret Graham (Edward), Joseph Murphy (Catherine), and Patricia Donahoe. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 28th, at Presentation BVM Church (240 Haverford Rd., Wynnewood, PA). Friends and family may call from 9 - 10 am. Mass will begin at 10 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Cecelia's name.
