He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Hartnett and Alverda Hartnett (Bergey); and his brothers, William Hartnett, Elmer Hartnett Jr. and Bernard Hartnett.
He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline S. Hartnett (Warner); his children, John Hartnett Jr. (Ella Mae), Linda Fischer (Rob), Sandy Garrity (Mike), Kevin Hartnett, Kari Wolfe (Carl) and Thomas Hartnett (Missie); and his brother James Hartnett (MaryAnn).
