He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smith and Betsy Pinto Smith; his wife Pauline E. Hurler; his siblings, Charles Smith, Jr., Daniel Smith, Steven Smith and Edna Smith; and his stepdaughter Linda Pickering.
He is survived by: his daughters, Anna Davis (Tom) of Sanford, MI, Sherri Smith of Midland, MI and Elizabeth Coates (Curtis) of Harrison Valley; his stepchildren, Mary Ann Pickering of Tioga, James Pickering (Diane) of Harrison Valley, Douglas Pickering (Tracey) of Rexville, NY, Timothy Pickering of Westfield and Thomas Pickering of Harrison Valley; his grandchildren, Amy Kemph, Joshua Johnson, Jordan Johnson, James Wright, Kurtis Coates (Caitlin Whitefleet), Dawson Coates, Bobby Barner (Kayce), Vickie Vanskiver (Ted), Stanley Barner, Amy Sawyer (Terry), Mindy Kibbe, Tiffany Costley (AJ), Brittany Riley (Ed), Shane Pickering (Lindsey), Nathan Pickering and Tyler Pickering; his great grandchildren, Aiden Kemph, Luke Johnson, Gabriella Wright, Hunter Barner, Jacob Barner, Caylee Barner, Caden Sawyer, Madisyn Sawyer, Haleigh Kibbe, Bryden Teller, Bryleigh Teller, Harper Costley, Aria Costley, Kaylen Riley, Cole Riley, Brynlee Pickering, Lucas Pickering and Raegan Pickering; and his siblings, Anna Perry (Tony) of Newport, RI and Ernie Smith of Newport, RI. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
