He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Spurgeon Bryant and Ann Bess Bryant (Butler); and his siblings, Josephine, Eva, Lillie, Marie, David, Harold, William and Carl.
He is survived by: his sons, Ronald Baker and James Baker (Latifah); his sister Gloria "Dodie" Arp (Edward); and his siblings-in-law, Lewis Jones, Betty Bryant and Doris Bryant. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
