He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Shank and Elmer Shank, Sr.. He is survived by: his brother Elmer Shank, Jr.; his children, Nakia Sloane-Ritter, Shaunte Sloane, Jamey Carter, Sr., Aisha Shank, Mikal Shank, Robert Shank, Jr., Da'Shay Shank and Davia Shank; his close friend Myrna Stills; his stepchildren, Asia M. Young and Carlton M. Young; his brother Carlos Shank, Sr.; and his cousin Lorraine "Jackie" Braxton. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
