He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Smith and Erma O. Smith (Roberts); his siblings, Vivian Carter, Mary Ellen Manning, Roberta Phoenix, Joyce Fischer and James H. "Jimmy" Smith; and his son Kelphen Fluellen.
He is survived by: his sisters, Beverly Lee and Lois Lee; his wife Sandra Gorman-Smith; his sons, Stacey Fluellen and Richard Kershaw; his cousin Rev. Mim Harvey; his caregiver Robin Hall; and his friends, Gary, Williams, Charles "Tinker" Evans and Michael Roberts. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
