With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Fred M. Essis (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), born in Bluefield, West Virginia, who passed away on March 3, 2023 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his brothers, Mussellum and Sam; and his parents, Michael and Jaleelah Essis. He is survived by: his wife Katrina; his children, Janet Issis (John), Joni Essis Gildea (Cornelius), Joseph F. Essis (Joanne), June Essis (Edward), Katherine Shunnarah (late Victor) and Kim Valencia (Joseph); his grandchildren, Odeh Issis (Katie), Janelle Issis (Jeffrey), Erika Vasha (Aaron), Justine Gildea, Cameron Gildea, Martin Gildea, Jaclyn Essis, Frederick Essis (Rebecca), Joshua Essis, Jullian Essis, Jonathan Essis, Audrey Essis, Addison Devine, Morgan Devine, Edward J. Devine Jr., George Shunnarah, Alexandria Shunnarah, Angelina Shunnarah, Gregory Shunnarah, Gabrielle Valencia, Katrina Valencia and Isabella Valencia; his great grandchildren, Alice and Frances Issis; and his siblings, Frank and Nellie. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces, extended family and friends.
