He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman A. Detweiler and Sallie Detweiler (Moyer); and his brothers, Russell M. Detweiler and Donald M. Detweiler. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne E. Detweiler; his daughters, Diane Friel (Kerry) of Perkasie and Valerie Detweiler (Chris Cooper) of Key West, Florida; his stepchildren, Robert Sloss (Maria) of Perkasie and Ellen Sloss Dendler (Michael) of Virginia; and his sisters, Lorene Derstine and Gladys Nice (Curtis). He is also survived by two granddaughters, six grandsons, three great-granddaughters.
