He was predeceased by: his wife Gwendolyn Hartzel (Nyce); and his parents, Ira Hartzel and Martha Hartzel (Moyer). He is survived by: his children, Gerald F. Hartzel, Jr. (Lori), Laurie A. Haller (Gary), Randall L. Hartzel (Nancy) and Jennifer E. Handwerk (Derrick). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
