He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce E. Cave and Virginia Wilt Cave; his daughter Karen M. Cave; and his grandson Alexander Moffatt Cave. He is survived by: his wife Pauline "Polly" Dodds Cave; his children, Robert B. Cave, II (Kathleen Garner) of Parkton, MD and Kathleen M. Ridge (James) of Hanover; his brother Charles M. Cave (Linda) of Ellicott City, MD; and his grandchildren, Tyler J. Ridge of Hanover, Margaret K. Cave of Parkton, Makenzie R. Ridge of Hanover and Hunter M. Ridge of Virginia Beach, VA..
