He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Nickell and Maxine Dodd Nickell; and his wife Sallie Lou Ryan Nickell. He is survived by: his children, Robert Allyn Nickell, Jr. (Patty) of North Carolina, Barbara Anne Young (Ron) of Georgia and Vanessa Ann Gorgano (Tony) of California; his siblings, Rebecca "Becky" Nickell-Bloom of Ohio and David Nickell of Ohio; his grandchildren, Jessica Craig (Don) of Iowa, Christopher Rhinehart of Iowa, Matthew Young (Dana) of Nebraska, Corey Wilson (Isaura) of California and Cody Wilson (Cynthia) of California; and his close friend Sue Sheely Jobe. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
