It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Margaret Hewes of Hanover, Pennsylvania, born in Pueblo, Colorado, who passed away on November 23, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Pitcher and Margaret Pitcher (Crosby); her stepson George Hewes, III; and her siblings, David Pitcher and Nanci Richardson.

She is survived by: her daughter Margaret E. Hewes of Manchester, MD; her stepson Vaughn Hewes, Sr. (Diane) of Baltimore, MD; her daughter-in-law Carol Hewes of Oakland, FL; her grandchildren, Suzanne Hewes, Francine Dupuis (Ray), Vaughn Hewes, Jr. (Holly), Kathryn Allen (Sky Kuhn) and Cassandra Allen (Curtis Reese); and her great grandchildren, Finn and Charlie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pepper's memory to Bart's Centenary United Methodist Church, 50 E. King Street, Littlestown, PA 17340.

“Just had my daughter read my message and heard of Pepper's death. Thanks for telling me. She and I went to Baughter's for lunch and planned to visit again before I left for Florida. Then she left a message about her hip. Am so happy we had that special time together. She looked lovely and was her bubbly self. Jean Frease, Pepper and I worked the Wesley Freedom UMW for many years. Will miss her and Jean until we meet again. Proud to know her and be a friend. Betty Saltmarsh”
