He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe Hoffman, Sr. and Opal Ray Bottoms Hoffman; and his sister Beverly Rae Mann. He is survived by: his spouse Beverly Anne Hoffman; his children, James Scott Hoffman, Sr. of Hanover, PA and Kathryn Opal Hoffman of Baltimore, MD; and his sister Joan Hoffman Porterfield of Hanover, PA.. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
