He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Sutherland and Beulah Sutherland (Johnson); his son Michael Sutherland; and his sister Helen Warner. He is survived by: his wife Mary K. Sutherland (Leister); his children, Kayann Smith (Dwaine), Kevin Sutherland (Kelly) and Nicole Sutherland; his stepchildren, Michael Kimmey (Cathy) of Hanover, Theresa Bingaman (Chris) of Fayetteville, Karl Kimmey (Trisha) of Four Oaks, NC and James Kimmey, Jr. (Stacey) of Hanover; and his siblings, Clyde Sutherland (Linda) of Dover, PA and Ann Hayes (Richard) of Alexandria, VA. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

Attendees to the viewing at the funeral home and the service at the church are required to wear facemasks and following social distancing protocols.
