He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald E. Barkhurst and Shirley Smith Barkhurst; and his sister Debra Shedlock. He is survived by: his wife Grace Barkhurst; his daughters, Marcie Lynn Krivak (Jason) of Burgettstown, PA and Michelle Smith (Adam) of Burgettstown, PA; and his grandchildren, Aubry Krivak, Alec Krivak, Andrew Krivak and Samuel Smith.
