He was predeceased by: his wife Jeannette I. Schaner (Long); his parents, Curtis M. Schaner and Florence Schaner (Bennicoff); his son John C. Schaner; and his grandson Mark Schaner.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert C. L. Schaner, Sr. (Shelva J.), Norman G. Schaner (Cynthia), Vernon C. C. Schaner, Jr., Gary R. Schaner (Tammy) and Paul G. E. Schaner (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Theresa Morgan, Robert Schaner, Jr., Justin Schaner, Travis Schaner, Megan Schaner, Jared Schaner, Tonya Schaner, Kristen Schaner and Michael Schaner. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
