He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel R. Leitzel and Margaret Leitzel (Kratzer); his daughter Leslie Smith; and his siblings, Ruby Rutter, Lester, Marvin, Jack, Stewart and Billy Leitzel.
He is survived by: his wife Janette Leitzel (Teter); his children, Keith Leitzel (Susan) of Carlisle, Sherri Shiflett (Brian) of Harrisburg, Brandi Switek (Jan) of Womelsdorf and Jason Koppenhaver (Darcy) of Elizabethville; his grandchildren, Jessica, Stephen, Carly, Sarah, Camden, Alex, Calen and Jarrett; and his great grandchild Myca.
