He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles A. Penland and Ocie L. Penland (Dillingham); and his brother Ted Penland. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Etter; his children, Debbie Sanchez (Pablo) of Miami, FL, Ted Penland (Ina) of Port Charlotte, FL, Randy Penland of Port Charlotte, FL and Jeff Ely of Grove City, PA; his grandchildren, Andrea Sanchez-Mejido, Kellie Mickenberg, Brandon Penland and Trevor Penland; his great grandchildren, Rylie Mejido, Hunter Mejido and Jackson Mickenberg; and his siblings, Pamela Nieting, Charles "Bud" Penland (Penny), Jerry Penland (Debbie) and Larry Penland.
