He was predeceased by: his parents, Christian Schmidt and Josette Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Carol L. Schmidt of Grove City, PA; his stepchildren, William P. Wittenberg and Jennifer A. Fisher; his children, Josette (Schmidt), Paul Como, Michael Schmidt (Chelsea Wigton), Heidi (Schmidt), Josh Lamancusa, Cathleen (Schmidt), David Howe and Emily Schmidt (Matthew Weil); and his brother Christian Schmidt of Berkley Springs, WV.. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren.
