He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Enoch and Frances Anna Filer, II (Kolb); and his wife Virginia M. "Ginny" Clawges. He is survived by: his children, Joseph E. Filer IV, Theresa J. Stutz (Richard), Mary Ann Jacobs (Timothy) and Mark A. Filer (Elizabeth M.); his grandchildren, Emily Antolik (A. J.) of Grove City, Maxx R. Stutz of Grove City, Benjamin J. Filer (Jamie) of Grove City, Adam J. Filer (Christine) of Grove City and Nicholas A. Filer of Grove City; his great grandchild Andrew John Antolik; his siblings, Eleanor "Dolly" Mirda of Mesa, AZ, Marjorie Cross, Patricia McDannel and David Filer (Doris); his daughter-in-law Kathryn Irish Filer; and his siblings, Judy Messina, Virginia Filer, Peter, Merle "Gene" and Robert Filer.
