He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Henry and Bessie Marie Carey (Dilley); his wife Lois A. Buckley; and his siblings, Winifred Carey, Ronald, Harry "Gene" and Robert W. Carey.
He is survived by: his children, Diana Boughner (Larry), Jeffrey Carey, Sharon Daleo (Sam) and Michael Carey (Jamie); and his sister Doris Thompson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
