He is survived by: his children, Scott Carpenter of Rock Hill, SC and Sue Achenbach of Greenville; his grandchildren, Heather, Pam, Robbie, Drew, Richard and Chris; his great grandchildren, Sydney, Clara, Finn, Jackson and Hawke; his close friend Alma Silverman of Springfield, MA; and his daughter Rebecca.
