He was predeceased by: his parents, Reginald Downing and Clara Downing (Lester). He is survived by: his wife Donna Downing (Heasley); his sons, Mark, David and Daniel Downing (Sue); his grandchildren, Renee Downing and Daniel Downing II; and his siblings, Regina Bosch (Charles), Ken Downing (Pat), Ronald Downing (Ethel), Clara Ann Downing and John Downing. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
