He was predeceased by: his father Lester L. Helfrick; and his brother Ronald E. Helfrick. He is survived by: his mother Naomi E. Helfrick (Shaffer) of Greencastle; his son Gary Michael Helfrick of Chambersburg, PA; his siblings, Jeffery L. Helfrick of Waynesboro, Beverly A. Helfrick of Greencastle, Kathy E. Barnhart (Duane) of Greencastle, Rebecca J. Zimmerman (Gail) of Mercersburg and Patty M. Summers (Helfrick) of Mercersburg; and also, Bobbie Jo Guyer of Greencastle and Danielle Perez of Greencastle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his very dear friends, care givers.
