He was predeceased by: his parent Charles H.; and his siblings, Charles Shaffer and Margaret Larson. He is survived by: his parent Ada Shaffer (Geiman); his wife Lorraine Shaffer (Hollinger); his children, Deborah Mellinger (Judson) of Greencastle and Jeffery Shaffer (Beverly) of Greencastle; his grandchildren, Lynne, Steven, Benjamin, David and Christine; and his sister Virginia Shelly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Ebenezer United Brethren Church 3661 Williamson Rd, Greencastle, PA 17225.
