He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd R. Hess and Rhea Mae Miller Hess; his son Randall Richard Hess; and his siblings, Robert E., Thurman M., Jacob D. Hess and Beatrice L. Detrich.
He is survived by: his wife T. Lorraine Warren Hess; his children, Becky S. Ausherman (Jim) of Chambersburg, PA, Steve Hess (Lori) of Greencastle, PA and Julie Martin of Greencastle, PA; and his grandchildren, Heath Ausherman (Brittany), Kolby Martin (Lauren), Cody Ausherman, Hailee Martin, Mindy Coy (Brad), Becky Recter (Jason) and Jessica Lashinsky.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Otterbein United Brethren Church (146 Leitersburg St, Greencastle, PA 17225). A burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery (37 S Carlisle St, Greencastle, PA 17225).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Otterbein United Brethren Church's Building Fund, 146 Leitersburg St., Greencastle, PA.
