He was predeceased by: his parents, Knox Owens and Virginia Owens (Williams); and his brothers, Robert Owens and Roy Owens. He is survived by: his children, Roxanne Gallagher (William), Bridgett Owens and Gregory Owens; his grandchildren, Patrick Gallagher and Mallory Reese; his sister Linda Adamski (John); and his sister-in-law Mary Owens.
