He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Basler and Lina Viola Neudecker Basler; his spouse Mary Virginia Hampt Basler; and his siblings, Hazel Sprinkle, Dorothy Basler, Carroll Basler, Luther Basler, John Basler and Ralph Basler.
He is survived by: his children, David C. Basler (Melinda) of Taneytown, MD, Donna M. Stachowiak (Brian) of Lynchburg, VA and Jenny Rebekah Basler-Allulis (Lawrence) of Loganville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association or the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department.
