She was predeceased by: her parents, Refugio Alonzo and Augustina Alonzo; her husband Jim McElwreath; her son David McElwreath; her brothers, Paul and Nicholas Alonzo; and her sister-in-law Linda Alonzo.
She is survived by: her daughters, Maria McElwreath-Scott and Andrea McElwreath Roeder; her son-in-law Dr. John Roeder; her siblings, Frank Alonzo, Jovita Aleman (Fred), Besita Allen (Johnny), Magdalena Vargas (Victor), Domingo Alonzo (Mercy), Fanny Rodriguez (Abby) and Maria DeLaRosa (Pete); her sister-in-law Carolyn Baxter; and her grandchildren, Andrew McElwreath, Addison Scott, Caroline Reddy, Amber Morris, Brandon Scott and Jack Roeder. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Due to the seriousness and situations surrounding COVID-19, a Celebration of Life/Memorial Service for Modesta will be scheduled at a later date in Corsicana, TX.
