He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Carmen Gilmore Schmitt; his children, David Schmitt (Andrea Lynch), Mimi Solaire and Diane McElvery (Jonathan); his stepdaughter Joan Siebart; and his siblings, Whitey Schmitt, Paul Schmitt, Irene Jarocki, Jim Schmitt, Dorothy Rutkowski and Jean Huth.
