He was predeceased by: his parents, Hungarian and Emerick (Katherine Merl Gessler); his siblings, Emerick Gessler, Dorothy Gessler and Wilma Gorman; his wife Margaret (Peggy Downes); and his children, Maureen, Kevin and Mary Katherine. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.
