He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Mentz and Margaret Mentz (Bedford); his brother William Mentz; and his girlfriend's daughter Christine Carboni. He is survived by: his girlfriend Cecelia Jamison; his sons, David Mentz and Carl Mentz; his girlfriend's children, Donald, Deborah Rozette, Douglas, Rose Jamison, Toby and Lori Lefever; and his nephews, William Mentz and Eugene Mentz. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
