He was predeceased by: his parents, James Basil "J. B." and Helen V. Townsend (Rutherford); and his brothers, Richard Townsend and Edward Townsend. He is survived by: his wife Joanne M. Townsend (Flater); and his children, Ellen E. Townsend of Finksburg, MD and Brian F. Townsend (Charity) of Glen Rock. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
