He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis J. Greenplate (Gladfelter); and his parents, John A. Greenplate and Jennie Greenplate (Wildasin). He is survived by: his children, Nevin R. Greenplate (Sandy), Joseph E. Greenplate (Carolyn), Rita M. Eveler (Stanley), Regina L. Cramer (George) and Christine F. Haynes (David). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
