Mary Lou Sweeney Obituary

We bid farewell to Mary Lou Sweeney (Boothwyn, Pennsylvania), born in Rye, New York, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 26, 2025 at the age of 83. Mary Lou touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Pyne and Dorothy Pyne; her former husband Joseph Sweeney; her sister Dorothy "DJ" Hepner; and her son Dan Dougherty.

She is survived by: her husband Joe; her daughters, Colleen Scelsa (Mike) and Karen Strazdus (Steve); her brother William "Guy" Pyne (Carol); her stepchildren, Joe Sweeney (Joan) and Karen Koussis (Greg); her grandchildren, Sean Dougherty, Michael Scelsa, Lauren Hulsey, Nick Scelsa, Morgan O'Neil, Alexis Kurtz, Kelsey Strazdus and Kyle Strazdus; her stepgrandsons, Damien Koussis and Nicholas Koussis; and her great grandchildren, Mia Scelsa, Rosie Scelsa, Brian Hulsey, Madilyn Dougherty, Nathan Hulsey and Hailey Colvin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 from 9:15 AM to 11:10 AM at the St. John Fisher Church (4225 Chichester Ave, Boothwyn, PA 19061). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 at the Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery (1600 S Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064).
