He was predeceased by: his siblings, John Balbirnie, Elizabeth Lee and Helen Hubbard; his former wife Joanne Balbirnie (Balmer); and his significant other Barbara Nelson.

He is survived by: his parents, Charles Balbirnie and Lesse Balbirnie (Patton); his sons, Gregory and Jeffrey; and his daughters-in-law, Patricia Beth, Mary Beth, Alexander, Brandon, Eric and Andrew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
