He was predeceased by: his parent Ludwig Edward; and his siblings, Richard E. Kemling and Charlotte Iverson. He is survived by: his parent Margaret Oleyar Kemling; his wife Cheryl Newton; his children, Julie Kemling of McKean, Susan Shaffer (James) of McKean and Scott Kemling (Angie) of Butler; his siblings, Chuck Kemling (Peggy Burns) of Albion, Peggy Bolte (Bill) of Cranesville and Janet Payne (Ralph); his grandchildren, Amanda Morley Sanko (Marc), Aaron Morley, Sarah Kemling and Allison Kemling; and his brother-in-law Robert Newton (Liz Wilson) of Erie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
