He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Earl and Etta Mae Werner (Llewellyn); his former wife Wilma Werner (Burkholder); his wife Patricia Ann Werner (Zimmerman); his sons, Frederick Werner II, Bradley Werner and Bruce Nightingale; his grandson Travis Nightingale; and his siblings, Bill Werner, Donald Werner, Rodger Werner, Charles Aurndt, Sally Romesburg and Shirley Donaldson.

He is survived by: his children, Wendell Werner (Christine), Garrett, Scott Nightingale, Dave Nightingale, Berlin, Deborah Abshire (Cam), Sheri Stout (Donald), Joe and Sue Abbott; his grandchildren, Nichole Werner, Wendell Werner Jr. (Jordan), Rick, Jackie Werner, Lee Ann Werner, Fred Werner (Amanda), Jeremy, Holly Nightingale, Andrew, Jadie Nightingale, Michelle, Shayne Ryder, Joshua Nightingale, Melanie Kennell, Anji Lyons, Scott, Alyssa Lyons, Kara, Cameron Lindsey and Jenna Nightingale; and his sisters, Helen Davis, Lois Myers, Wilma Purbaugh and Bonnie Decker (Rick). He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren.
