He is survived by: his fiancée Kimberly Marshall; his children, Cheyenne (Paul Schiattarella) and Annika; his father Jean Thompson of Millsboro, DE; and his sisters, Tara Thompson of Leola, PA and Christine Will of Memphis, TN..

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a college account for John's youngest daughter, Annika, and asks for donations to be made there.
