He was predeceased by: his parents, J. William Gager (Bill) and Mavis White Gager; his uncles, Arthur Gager, David Gager and Robert Gager; his aunt Alma Gager Hardler; and his godmother Margaret Branning.
He is survived by: his sister Pamela R. Gager Long (William White); his children, William E. Gager (Pamela), Melissa M. Gager Rutledge (Bruce) and Joseph S. Gager (Leah); his grandchildren, Tanner Laabs, Brooke Swingle, Jessemyn Gager, Kirsten Gager, Brea Rutledge, Zachary Gager, Madison Stone, Bryce Stone Danielle Gager, Daniel Gager, Channing Rutledge and Abigail Gager; and his great grandchildren, Jayden, Julius Peters, Theia Grano and Maverick Chevere.
