He is survived by: his wife Julie Vogelbacher Smerkar; his children, Darla Smerkar of Fryburg, Shane Smerkar of Fryburg and Mathias Smerkar (Jenna) of Fryburg; and his grandchildren, Aiden Smerkar and Sara Smerkar.
